Trash removal in the Maintenance Assessment District
The City Heights Clean & Safe team oversees trash removal in the City Heights Maintenance Assessment District. This includes maintaining over 50 trash receptacles placed throughout the MAD. Trash receptacles located in heavy traffic areas are maintained daily, while all other trash cans see maintenance at least twice per week and by request.
Trash Removal FAQ
Currently we maintain around 50 trash cans throughout the Maintenance Assessment District (MAD). This number may change as business owners request new trash cans or ask for them to be removed.
Below you will find a map of the all of the trash receptacles in the Maintenance Assessment District that are maintained by the City Heights Business Association Clean & Safe team.
Likely a business or property owner requested that a trash receptacle be removed. If you would like a trash can added to your city block, you can request one using the form at the bottom of this page.
Trash removal is performed daily in high traffic areas, including the intersections at University Ave. & Fairmount, and 50th & University; and the areas around 3802 University Ave. and 3729 University Ave.
Throughout the MAD, trash is removed at least twice a week and by request.
We cannot remove large or bulky trash items from properties or from streets and alleys. These requests must be reported to the City of San Diego through the Get it Done app.
A maintenance assessment district, or MAD, is a geographical area where property owners vote to assess themselves an additional tax in order to fund enhanced services or projects within the district's boundaries. The City Heights Business Association manages the City Heights MAD under contract with the City of San Diego. Daily maintenance within the district is performed by the staff of the CHBA Clean & Safe Program.
